Primary School Curriculum

The Literacy curriculum at Tender Palms School is a perfect fusion of Nigerian and British curricula, with the goal of challenging and motivating our pupils to gain in-depth knowledge of their immediate surroundings and the world at large.
It also provides a world-class enriched learning experience that focuses on the core domains of learning – cognitive, affective, and psychomotor.
The Literacy curriculum focuses on reading, writing, comprehension, and creative writing.
At the Preschool Level, learners are exposed to letter sounds and the proper way to blend and form words.
At the Primary level, the goal is to ensure that pupils are able to confidently and independently read a wide range of age-appropriate texts with clarity.

In Comprehension, learners will develop positive attitudes toward reading as well as an understanding of what they read by listening to and discussing a variety of fiction, poetry, plays, and non-fiction texts.
They are able to retrieve and record information from age-appropriate texts as well.

At Tender Palms, we use a hybrid of the British and Nigerian curricula; therefore, the British curriculum is adopted for Math.
Our pupils are taught using the math strands, which are as follows:
* Numbers – Place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication, fractions, decimals and percentages , ratio and proportion, and Algebra
* Measurement – Weight, length, time, and capacity
* Geometry – Properties of shapes (2D &3D shapes), position and direction
* Statistics – Charts , simple tables, block diagrams etc.

Teaching based on these Strands helps to demystify math and make it easier for our pupils to comprehend easily.

Pupils are also taught how to apply each strand of math to real-life situations, as we recognize math as a tool for solving real-world problems.
Our pupils regard our math classes as enjoyable.
